The typical US single-family home uses 3/4" or 1" service lines however, with new and larger homes, different sizes are not uncommon if there is a greater demand on water usage. Condos and apartments commonly have 1/2" pipes which can still be compatible with our 3/4" Smart Valve as long as your plumber uses reducing adapters/fittings to connect them properly.
Locate your main water supply pipe (usually found in the basement, utility area, garage, etc.). It will have a shut off valve that shuts off all the water to your home.
Make sure any insulation is stripped away enough so that you can wrap the string/ruler around the actual pipe.
Measure how long the string/ruler it takes to go around the pipe once. Use this length to determine the pipe diameter based on the pipe material in the tables below.
With the industry leading installation time of 30 minutes, the Smart Valve can be commonly installed in the basement or garage depending on where your home's main water shut-off is located. Once located, install after the main shut-off valve and before the water heater and where the plumbing splits leading to different fixtures.
Verify that a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is available within 100 ft of the valve and an electrical outlet within 10 ft of the installation spot.
How do I know if my Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz? Check the name of your Wi-Fi network. Many 2.4 GHz networks have "24," "2G," or "2.4" at the end of the name. You can also look at the connection details on your computer or phone.
